Generally speaking, a promise is a promise is a promise. Most people agree with that statement. Merriam-Webster defines the word promise as follows. A promise is a declaration that one will do or refrain from doing something specified. It is also legally binding. Now, The Word of God as written in the Holy Bible is filled with promises from God. “I would have lost heart, unless I had believed, that I would see the goodness of the LORD, in the land of the living.”
“Wait on the LORD; Be of good courage, And He shall strengthen your heart; Wait, I say, on the LORD!”
