  • God Knows What We NEED —S3-DE3

    Lady V’s Devotional Episode

    Romans 8:26-28 (NLT) says:

And the Holy Spirit helps us in our weakness. For example, we don’t know what God wants us to pray for. But the Holy Spirit prays for us with groanings that cannot be expressed in words.”

“And the Father who knows all hearts knows what the Spirit is saying, for the Spirit pleads for us believers in harmony with God’s own will.

And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.”

    Romans 8:26-28 (NLT)

    Devotional

Who among you likes for things to always go your way?

We all have at some point in our lives. I know I’ve had my seasons of asking God to do things—my way. Unfortunately, there’s a problem with—my way.  The problem lies with our limited knowledge of what’s ahead.

But, Father God, being All-knowing, has the foreknowledge of what’s best for our lives. God knows what we need.

And in, Romans chapter 8, verses 26-28, we find Apostle Paul teaching a valuable lesson. We don’t know what to pray, but the Holy Spirit does. We need to live with His leading—even in prayer.

In general, most people fit into one of two categories: the hopeless or the hopeful. The question then is how can a hopeful person become a prisoner of hope? Well, I’m so glad you asked.

Hence, the title — To the Prisoner of HOPE. Because some people may not realize they have become just that–a prisoner to their hopes.

Thus, before we go any further, let’s look at some definitions for ‘hope’ and ‘prisoner’ so that we are all on the same page. Hope means to look forward to something with desire and reasonable confidence. A prisoner is a person legally held in prison for the punishment of crimes committed. Also, a prisoner can be a person who feels confined or trapped by a situation or set of circumstances.

  • New Things to Come – S2-DE20

    Lady V’s Devotional Episode

The LORD said: “Forget what happened long ago! Don’t think about the past. I am creating something new. There it is! Do you see it? I have put roads in deserts, streams in thirsty lands.”

    Isaiah 43:18-19, CEV

Photo of a sticky note with the words Change is Coming representing New Things to Come when one let's go of the past.

    Devotional

We all have a past. And past mistakes and bad decisions can hold us captive. And much like the children of Israel, those former things tag along for the ride as we travel into what’s next. So, it can keep us going in circles.

In fact, it’s those mistakes of the past that can hinder us from seeing what lies ahead—something new

Thus, God wants us to forget past mistakes, and look to those new mercies which are available each morning. And not only that, He is working on something new.

  • Peace in Stressful Times – S2E19

Gone is life as the world knew it

When New Year’s Day 2020 came in, the resolutions began and planners made their plans for the year. Some people already had dates in 2020 scheduled well before 2019 came to an end. Most people in America had no idea that in March 2020 everything would come to a screeching halt. Because COVID-19 changed life as the world knew it. So, with all that is happening daily, there are those who are searching for peace in stressful times.

Sadly, many people have lost their lives and others have lost loved ones to the coronavirus. In May of 2020, The Harvard Gazette published the article, The lesson is to never forget, by Liz Mineo. Lady V’s Devotional Episode

Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank Him for all He has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.”

    Devotional

People long for peace. Yet, anxiety and stress can steal one’s peace of mind with overwhelming success. So how do we deal with troublesome times?

When we look to Jesus, THE WORD, we are reminded of how He always turned to Father God in prayer. His prayer life was constant, and His trust in God never wavered.

  • A Safe Place to Lay Your Heart – S2E18

One can’t even begin to discuss a safe place to lay your heart without first discussing trust. Trust plays an essential role in our decision making. According to Dictionary.com trust means to rely on the integrity of a person or thing. For instance, have you ever given anyone the benefit of the doubt? Of course, we all have. And did you later regret it? Yep, been there too.

Well, according to Dr. Phil, we owe no one the benefit of the doubt. He said humans are the only species to sense danger and run headfirst into it. That includes various aspects of life. But, all other species trust their instincts and run in the opposite direction of danger. In other words, as humans, some of us trust too easily when we must be mindful in whom we place our trust at all times.
