To begin with, relationships are a part of life. Whether family, friendship, romantic, or professional we all have them. At the end of the day, that is why ‘Understanding What Love IS’ is so important. Because for the most part, no ‘successful’ relationship happens without love.
It is true some people believe love is the most powerful force in the universe. As a Christian, I believe in the power of love because the Holy Bible tells us that God is love. And He created everything out of love. You may be thinking, “But SD, does ‘every’ successful relationship ‘really’ operate from a place of love?” And my answer is a resounding “Yes!”
Relationships are the connections one has with others. And although there are several types of relationships—romantic relationships can be tricky. In other words, those connections are hard enough as it is when both people are on the same page. But if they are not, it makes navigating through the issues of life that much more difficult.
Do you feel loved, cherished, and respected?
And for that reason, loving yourself is so important. Because, when you truly love yourself, you are more aware of how that relationship affects you. For instance, how does the relationship make you feel? That is all the more crucial when planning a future with someone.
If you are not receiving what you need and want from the relationship it’s time to examine that. In Ephesians 4:2 New Living Translationit speaks on how we should be with others, “Always be humble and gentle. Be patient with each other, making allowance for each other’s faults because of your love.”
This week SD and Lady V discuss the topic of love; such as, ‘What is love and the role God plays in it?” The ladies start the discussion with the following definitions of the word ‘love’ from Dictionary.com,
Love can be a warm personal attachment
sexual passion, a term of endearment
enthusiasm of a certain thing (love of books, movies, cars, and etc.)
used as a score of ‘0’ in the sport of tennis.
SD and Lady V discuss the importance of being on the same page about ‘love’ in any given relationship because everybody’s definition of love is not necessarily the same. Sadly, some people use the word ‘love’ very lightly.
