Loving God and Loving Others

Let love and kindness be the motivation behind all that you do.

1 Corinthians 16:14 The Passion Translation

Devotional

Beloved, do you know that as we go about representing Jesus Christ, our motivation should always be that of LOVE? No matter who we meet or what they believe, we as the church are to show the love of Christ.

You might say, “Why is that so important?” I’m glad you asked! It is important because Jesus came to the earth and sacrificed everything, all in the name of LOVE. “For this is how much God loved the world—he gave his one and only unique Son as a gift. So now everyone who believes in him will never perish but experience everlasting life.” (John 3:16, TPT)

If you are a believer in Jesus, you ARE that walking Bible that people will see and read by your actions. We should love others just as God has loved us by His grace. Our character and our behaviors must demonstrate Christ on the level that always projects grace.

Remember, some people may never open a Bible or attend a church service so, that’s where we come in. Even when it’s hard to show love to someone behaving badly, we must still remain in a place of love and peace. It’s not easy, but it is possible!

It takes time in God’s presence and in His Word to be filled with love, grace, compassion, and mercy toward others. The Word of God is about ‘new life’ in Christ—the Good News, (salvation through Jesus), NOT a condemning message. “For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. “(John 3:17, NKJV)

When we show kindness and love to others, it is truly a testimony of your time spent with God. So let’s get motivated to love! Furthermore, “we have discovered love’s reality: Jesus sacrificed his life for us. Because of this great love, we should be willing to lay down our lives for one another.” (1 John 3:16, TPT)

Beloved, sometimes, “laying down your life” means putting aside your will to illuminate love and respect toward one another (v.16). We can’t sow a seed of love if we’re sowing hate. We were all created for the glory of God, even though; some may choose to take a different path than what God has laid out for them.

And although we know that God’s Perfect Will is better than anything we could EVER imagine, it is still a choice that He gives to all mankind to accept Jesus. It was in God’s plan to grant everyone freewill. And, if God is willing to allow everyone to make a choice, we must respect each other’s choices. I know we want the best for our loved ones, but NO ONE wants better for them more than God.

Beloved, continue to show love, and allow JESUS to light the way!  Jesus said; “The only way people come to me is by the Father who sent me—he pulls on their hearts to embrace me. And those who are drawn to me, I will certainly raise them up in the last day.” (John 6:44, TPT)

Love will light the way!
