Lady V’s Devotional Episode
2 John 1:4-6 ESV says this:
4 I rejoiced greatly to find some of your children walking in the truth, just as we were commanded by the Father.
5 And now I ask you, dear lady—not as though I were writing you a new commandment, but the one we have had from the beginning—that we love one another.
6 And this is love, that we walk according to his commandments; this is the commandment, just as you have heard from the beginning, so that you should walk in it.
Devotional
Why is love and truth in the “Perfect Will of GOD?
Imagine if the whole world believed in Jesus and walked in LOVE and THE TRUTH with one another. I believe the earth would look a lot better right now.
There would be no criminal activity. There wouldn’t be anyone hating one another. Evil wouldn’t have a grip on anyone.
Love IS essential and the truth IS in the Word of God.
Jesus said it like this, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and all your mind (Matt. 22:37, ESV). Jesus said that was the great and first commandment.
Next, Jesus said, “And second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself (v.39).”
Think about it–If more of us would love God and love others, that alone could change lives!
And as believers in Jesus Christ, our love walk in Christ should make a statement. It should always be a contribution of grace into society. In other words, following Jesus’ example of love would bring healing. It would affect lives for the better.
In keeping with this, the world would see our love walk in Christ, but—so would our children, our family.
LOVE makes a difference! Love always affects someone’s life to bring about good.
The Word of God describes what love should look like…
Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking. It is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres (1 Corin. 13:4-7 NIV).
It may seem difficult…But with God—ALL things are POSSIBLE!!!
This is why it’s so important to understand God’s love for us.
In John 3:16, Jesus said, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life (ESV).”
God loves us! HE sent HIS SON, Jesus, to do what only HE could have done—brought Salvation by HIS grace—HIS unmerited love. God made it POSSIBLE!
God did this through Jesus.
Need more proof of God’s love for the world and that love is important?
Well, everything began with the love of God. The breath of life in Adam and Eve in the beginning.
Looking back—Adam and Eve could have been cancelled (erased) after they disobeyed God. But God had a better plan to redeem mankind.
Salvation through Jesus on the Cross happened to reconcile mankind back to God—all because of God’s love.
That statement alone speaks volumes of HIS “LOVE”.
The Creator of all things made a decision after Adam and Eve’s sin of disobedience. It was clear everyone in the world would struggle with the sin of disobedience to God’s Perfect Will.
God Willed for mankind to receive a chance to begin again.
Everyone in the world would need a Savior. But, no one else but God’s Son could make this right.
Now, because of Jesus, everyone has the opportunity to receive the free gift of Salvation. Through JESUS new life, forgiveness of sins, reconciliation back to God, comes by grace. Believing in Jesus brings change.
That’s love!
Salvation—a grace gift! Paid for by Jesus’ shed Blood on the Cross—The TRUTH! And the TRUTH, which is the Gospel of Jesus, reveals God’s love for the world. HIS love is so great that HE doesn’t want anyone to have to spend eternity apart from HIM.
Thus, Jesus dying on the Cross and resurrection from the dead—was necessary. No one else loves us more than God!
Love sacrifices and love seeks to protect.
That’s love!
Thus, Beloved, our love walk is necessary! When we walk in the love of Christ and the TRUTH of HIS Word—we show the world JESUS.
Let’s pray…
Heavenly FATHER,
We thank you for YOUR great love through YOUR SON, our LORD and Savior, JESUS.
FATHER GOD, we thank YOU for loving us and extending such grace to us. Thank YOU for the HOLY SPIRIT, given to help us.
Help us to be patient with others, help us to be kind. Help us to not boast about things when all the glory belongs to YOU.
Help us to not be proud as if we are responsible for anything good that happens in our lives. Every good and perfect gift comes from YOU Abba.
Help us to not dishonor others, and not be self-seeking (not having concern for others).
Help us to not be so easily angered or keeping records of those who have wronged us.
Help us to not delight in evil but reject it. Help us to rejoice with the truth and always protect, trust, hope and persevere in life.
Father we need help to follow Jesus’ example of love so that we can love the way YOU require of us as we walk in the holiness of Christ Jesus.
We bless YOUR HOLY Name! In Jesus Name, let this all be done. Amen, Amen, Amen!
Grace and Peace to you all, and remember that JESUS IS LORD!
