New Things to Come – S2-DE20

Lady V’s Devotional Episode

The LORD said: “Forget what happened long ago! Don’t think about the past. I am creating something new. There it is! Do you see it? I have put roads in deserts, streams in thirsty lands.”

Isaiah 43:18-19, CEV

Photo of a sticky note with the words Change is Coming representing New Things to Come when one let's go of the past.

Devotional

We all have a past. And past mistakes and bad decisions can hold us captive. And much like the children of Israel, those former things tag along for the ride as we travel into what’s next. So, it can keep us going in circles.

In fact, it’s those mistakes of the past that can hinder us from seeing what lies ahead—something new

Thus, God wants us to forget past mistakes, and look to those new mercies which are available each morning. And not only that, He is working on something new.

The Peace of God – S2-DE19

Lady V’s Devotional Episode

Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank Him for all He has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.”

Philippians 4:6-7 (NLT)

The pages of an opened book transform into a dove flying into the sunset. Photo represents the peace of God.

Devotional

People long for peace. Yet, anxiety and stress can steal one’s peace of mind with overwhelming success. So how do we deal with troublesome times?

When we look to Jesus, THE WORD, we are reminded of how He always turned to Father God in prayer. His prayer life was constant, and His trust in God never wavered.

In the Hands of GRACE — S2-DE18

Lady V’s Devotional Episode

Jesus went across to Mount Olives, but he was soon back in the Temple again. Swarms of people came to him. He sat down and taught them.”

“The religion scholars and Pharisees led in a woman who had been caught in an act of adultery. They stood her in plain sight of everyone and said, “Teacher, this woman was caught red-handed in the act of adultery. Moses, in the Law, gives orders to stone such persons. What do you say?”

They were trying to trap him into saying something incriminating so they could bring charges against him. Jesus bent down and wrote with his finger in the dirt. They kept at him, badgering him. He straightened up and said, “The sinless one among you, go first: Throw the stone.”

“Bending down again, he wrote some more in the dirt. Hearing that, they walked away, one after another, beginning with the oldest. The woman was left alone. Jesus stood up and spoke to her.”

“Woman, where are they?” Does no one condemn you?”

“No one, Master.” “Neither do I,” said Jesus. “Go on your way. From now on, don’t sin.”

John 8:1-11, (MSG)

Devotional

You ever got caught doing something you shouldn’t have? Yep, we all have. But when you’re caught in front of a live audience—it’s embarrassing!

Much like the adulterous woman we’ve all had and/or have hidden secret sins. And when judgmental people find out—they are ready to point fingers and put up picket signs as if they are perfect.

“Are You Ready?” S2 – DE17

Lady V’s Devotional Episode

At that time the kingdom of heaven will be like ten virgins who took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom. Five of them were foolish and five were wise.

The foolish ones took their lamps but did not take any oil with them. The wise ones, however, took oil in jars along with their lamps. The bridegroom was a long time in coming, and they all became drowsy and fell asleep.

At midnight the cry rang out: ‘Here’s the bridegroom! Come out to meet him!’ Then all the virgins woke up and trimmed their lamps. The foolish ones said to the wise, ‘Give us some of your oil; our lamps are going out.’

“‘No,’ they replied, ‘there may not be enough for both us and you. Instead, go to those who sell oil and buy some for yourselves.’ “But while they were on their way to buy the oil, the bridegroom arrived. The virgins who were ready went in with him to the wedding banquet. And the door was shut.”

“Later the others also came. ‘Lord, Lord,’ they said, ‘open the door for us!’ “But he replied, ‘Truly I tell you, I don’t know you.’

“Therefore keep watch, because you do not know the day or the hour.”

Matthew 25:1-13, NIV

Devotional

For the wise, preparation is an essential ingredient in all areas of life. For the Kingdom of God, it’s essential for—eternity.

A relationship with God is spiritual preparedness that will ready us for life after this one. When Jesus returns for His people, our time spent in God’s Word and in His presence will have made all the difference.

The Awakening to LIGHT – S2-DE16

Lady V’s Devotional Episode

“In the beginning the Word already existed. The Word was with God, and the Word was God. He existed in the beginning with God. God created everything through him, and nothing was created except through him.”

“The Word gave life to everything that was created, and his life brought light to everyone. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness can never extinguish it.”

John 1:1-5, NLT

Devotional

When I was a child the darkness frightened me because I couldn’t see. I stumbled around in the dark as if I were blind. As soon as I’d find the light switch it was like I’d been saved from the creatures that lurked in the darkness.

Unified in LOVE – S2-DE15

Lady V’s Devotional Episode

I pray that your love will overflow more and more, and that you will keep on growing in knowledge and understanding. For I want you to understand what really matters, so that you may live pure and blameless lives until the day of Christ’s return.

May you always be filled with the fruit of your salvation—the righteous character produced in your life by Jesus Christ—for this will bring much glory and praise to God.”

Philippians 1:9-11, NLT

Devotional

America—a land filled with many intricate doorways that lead to opportunity, and yet some are a revolving door to the past. The cries of the ‘blood of people’ murdered for the color of their skin reach heaven to GOD, the ONE, who created them.

And as God looks at HIS creation, in which all are made out of LOVE, I imagine, HE must shake HIS head to say, “What have you done with what I have given you?” For the Breath of LIFE is given for HIS purpose, HIS plan, and HIS glory.

So, to everyone on earth that takes a breath, what really matters is that everyone has a heart of unified love. That kind of LOVE can only come from knowing God.

Help for Today—Hope for the FUTURE – S2-DE14

Lady V’s Weekly Devotional

“I would have lost heart, unless I had believed, that I would see the goodness of the LORD, in the land of the living.”

“Wait on the LORD; Be of good courage, And He shall strengthen your heart; Wait, I say, on the LORD!”

Psalm 27:13-14, NKJV

Devotional

I recall growing up hearing the older folks singing about life’s troubles, and getting to the sweet ole by-and-byIt gave me the impression that the only time God would show HIS goodness was after death and not in this life—which is simply not true

In Revelation chapter 21, we read a description of the New Jerusalem, which is the new city of God and HIS future home for HIS people. It is, no doubt, the goodness of the LORD for the FUTURE.

And, in John, chapter 14, Jesus says, “Do not let your heart be troubled (afraid, cowardly). Believe [confidently] in God and trust in Him, [have faith, hold on to it, rely on it, keep going and] believe also in Me. In My Father’s house are many dwelling places. If it were not so, I would have told you, because I am going there to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back again and I will take you to Myself, so that where I am you may be also” (John 14:1-3, AMP).

Now, that’s Good News! The Word of God lets believers know that Jesus is confirming that eternal life with HIM, is secured by believing in HIM. And not only that, there is special preparation going into our joining Jesus in eternity.

But, let’s look to HIS goodness for TODAY. In Psalm 27:13-14, here we find David, going through some type of trouble.

The “Gift of Peace” To Those Left Behind – S2-DE13

Lady V’s Weekly Devotional

“I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid.”

John 14:27, NLT

Devotional

A Caucasian woman holding flowers in a distraught state. This Greyscale photo is representing the loss of a loved one.

When you lose someone you love it is often devastating. The uncertainty of life going forward can seem unbearable to face. You need peace.

People want to comfort you. But who knows what to say? Your peace is stolen and your heart is broken. In actuality, you’re tuning every word out anyway. In fact, you want to go back to yesterday before it all happened.

So, you may ask; “How does one find peace in this?”

Well, in John 14:27, we find Jesus talking to His disciples, preparing them for His departure here on earth. Jesus knew he was about to face death and He wanted to leave the disciples with words that would impart in them—the gift of perfect peace.

The God of Mercy – S2-DE12

Lady V’s Weekly Devotional

The faithful love of the LORD never ends! His mercies never cease. Great is his faithfulness; his mercies begin afresh each morning. I say to myself, “The LORD is my inheritance; therefore, I will hope in him!”

Lamentations 3:22-24, NLT

Devotional

Collage of photos representing the God of Mercy. 1) a woman standing against a blue and white wall, 2) a crown of thorns, 3) a person's hands breaking free of chains, and 4) a light at the end of a tunnel.

Do you have moments where you feel hopeless? Does it seem like you’re in a dark tunnel and you can’t see your way out? Who hasn’t had a moment like that?

It may surprise you, but in the midst of those dark, places we CAN find hope. That hope is in Jesus.

Truth be told, the love of Jesus is faithful and does not end. He specializes in freeing people from dark places and lights the path to a fresh start.

Let me tell you about a man who was in desperate need of a fresh start. Folks in town called him the ‘blind beggar.’ He was homeless, blind, overlooked and deemed as insignificant to people. He knew what it felt like to feel hopeless.

No doubt, he needed a breakthrough. Suddenly, the day came when his life changed dramatically. He met Jesus and Mercy showed up!

Live Beyond Fear–S2-DE11

Lady V’s Weekly Devotional

While Jesus was still speaking, some people came from the house of Jairus, the synagogue leader. “Your daughter is dead,” they said. “Why bother the teacher anymore?”

Overhearing what they said, Jesus told him, “Don’t be afraid; just believe.”

Mark 5:35-36, NIV

Have you heard some bad news lately that shook you to your core? We all have at some point in life. But, it takes knowing God and trusting God to LIVE BEYOND FEAR

Jairus, the leader of the synagogue, was given some terrible news by a messenger about his daughter. She had just died and now it looked like all hope was lost.

Jairus, must have paused for a second to catch his breath. His emotions now caught up in a whirlwind of FEAR. Was he too late?

For you see, he had journeyed to find Jesus to ask HIM to come, and heal his daughter who was deathly ill when he left home. This was a pivotal moment! —FEAR or FAITH.
